FAIRFAX | BOSQUE AVENUE

The design of this house was the collaborative effort between Summit and Kenneth Holder Designs in association with the architect-of-record, Chrome Architecture. The challenge here was minimizing intrusion on a steep and sensitive site beneath a redwood tree grove. To minimize soil disruption, the house was gently stepped up the sight by using a glass bridge linking to pavilions, public and private. The need to make the most of minimal direct daylight inspired the soft composition of large window walls and long ribbon skylights to allow sunlight to cast dramatically down the interior walls, a display that changes moment to moment.
